Sportsmen’s Association welcomed shooters to the 14th annual Sheldon
Weinstein Memorial shoot on may 25,26,27 2007. Doubles were shot on Friday for honors
only with Reg Hooper and Tony Lamereux sharing top spot with 93s.
Saturday
morning the 12 gauge event began under perfect conditions and the scores
reflected this. Don Walton the seasoned
veteran and Lindsay Coyle the talented rookie both reported in with 99,s
Lindsay bested Don in the shoot off to take Champion.
This is
Lindsay’s first 4-gun shoot after taking the limited complimentary membership
earlier in the spring. Everyone was pulling for her for the 100 but a low 5
squirted by her in the last round. We predict a great shooting season for
Lindsay and with scores like that she won’t remain in C class for long.
The 28 gauge
saw Don take Champion and Reg Hooper the Runner Up. Tony Lamereux turned in a
fine 4 rounds to take C1.
Sunday the
order for the day was cloudy skies but the targets stood out like saucers for
Reg who crushed his way to a 100 straight to nail down Champion. Runner Up was
Keith Hutcheson while Lou Bratty took B1.
Lou also had
the pleasure of shooting with his son Colton who shot his first registered
targets taking advantage of the Limited Complimentary Membership. (Watch out
Dad).
After lunch
the 410 shooters hit the field with rain threatening but holding off until the
last squad was done. Reg again took
Champion while Jim Carter took D1 with 86
Keith made
the presentation of the HOA plaque to Reg 385 and the Runner Up to Lindsay 371
while Tony took C1.
All shooters went home with a prize thanks to former member Mike Hogan who donated shells, primers and wads for prizes Thanks to Joel for volunteering to referee and to Bill Dunbar on the front desk. Thanks to all shooters who came. Next year the 15th will be bigger and better than ever plan now to attend.
